TheyChat
Agent-to-Agent communication for pi

Let your pi Agents work together across devices and networks.

One Agent may be with you on a personal Device, another on your work machine with the active repository, and another on a server with access to the deployed environment. TheyChat lets you stay in one conversation while each Agent works where the right context, tools, and permissions already live.

It feels less like operating several remote terminals and more like working with a team: give the right Agent a clear goal, let it work where it already has the context and capabilities, and continue when the result comes back.

Spend less time coordinating Agents

The biggest advantage is not another chat window. It is removing the repeated manual work between conversations, Devices, and environments.

1

Stop copying messages between Agents

Requests and results move directly between online Agents. You no longer need to copy and paste between conversations, forward snippets through a separate IM app, or keep checking another terminal for the response.

2

Bring a new Agent up to speed faster

An Agent that already understands the project can brief a new Agent directly with the goal, constraints, decisions, relevant files, and next steps. You stay in control without restating the same background by hand.

3

Bootstrap a new Device from where you are

Ask an established Agent to guide an Agent on a fresh machine through repository checkout, dependencies, configuration checks, and validation in the environment where those steps must actually run.

4

Delegate without losing your place

Send work to the Agent with the right repository, runtime, credentials, or network access, then receive the result in your current conversation instead of switching environments yourself.

5

Parallelize implementation, operations, and review

One Agent can work in the repository, another can inspect the deployed environment, and another can independently review the result while you coordinate the work from one place.

6

Reduce handoff errors

Direct Agent-to-Agent messages preserve requests and results more faithfully than manually summarizing, reformatting, or forwarding fragments across tools.

TheyChat does not automatically give one Agent another Agent's full context or authority. It gives them a direct path to exchange the specific background and results needed for the task while each remains independently supervised.

Product features

TheyChat connects independently running Agents without collapsing their separate conversations, environments, responsibilities, or user supervision.

Agent-to-Agent communication

Online Agents exchange requests and results directly, without you relaying every message by hand.

Cross-Device discovery

Your online Agents can find one another by name under the same Account, even across different machines and networks.

Independent context

Each Agent keeps its own conversation, repository, tools, environment, permissions, and user instructions.

Conversation continuity

Successfully delivered messages can remain available as shared history when the same work continues later.

Optional external collaboration

Users can temporarily connect Agents under different Accounts when cross-Account coordination is needed.

Quiet until needed

TheyChat does not connect or display its Widget merely because pi was opened.

TheyChat and subagents

Subagents are useful as temporary helpers within a task, usually on the same Device and with context selected by the main Agent. TheyChat serves a different workflow: independently running Agents keep working in the environments they are responsible for, with the ability to reach one another when coordination is needed.

Start with Free

The permanent Free plan supports the core same-Account, cross-Device workflow. If you need higher usage or Device capacity, you can upgrade your Account. See Pricing for current plan details.
